In an effort to keep up with technology and establish new ways of distributing information, Memorial United Methodist Church and has begun sending out a weekly email newsletter to the list of folks for which we have email addresses. We are now using a distribution company called “Mail Chimp” because of its simple interface, ability to sign up for the newsletter online, and attractive templates. I am sure that the newsletter will evolve over the coming months until we are able to figure out exactly how to utilize this technology to its fullest.
Until then, we have a small problem that we need to fix. Many of the “spam” filters and “Junk mail” folders that have been set up on your email accounts by your Internet Service Provider (ISP) may be identifying our email as Spam or junk email. So, in order to begin (or keep) receiving the new Church and Youth Emails, you might need to add my email address to your “address book” or “friends list”. One ISP in particular: NorthState Communications is of special note, because many of you are NorthState customers.
I have included NorthState’s procedure below so that you can begin receiving the newsletter without having to dig around for it each week. PLEASE NOTE: this is a one-time fix, after you do this, you should receive the Church/Youth email like any other piece of email:
1. Log in to your online email box by launching your computer’s web browser and going to: http://webmail.northstate.net .
2. Enter your email address and password then LOGIN.
3. Find the “Held Mail” folder which can be found along the left side of the screen. (click it)
4. (OPTIONAL) Look for MUMY eNews or Church News or anything from rdenton@mumctville.org. These are the emails that I have been sending you, but you have not gotten! If you have not received any email from me, please let me know because I may have the wrong email address entered for you.
5. Find the tab along the top that is called “Policies”. (click it)
6. Find the “FILTER BY SENDER” line. Under it you should see a list of “Friends” and “Enemies”
7. Add rdenton@mumctville.org to your “Friends” List and click the little green plus sign. YOU ARE DONE and should begin to receive the church emails! THANK YOU!
